LED LIGHT BULBS WITH ORNAMENTAL LIGHTING

Filament LED Light Bulb

The LED light bulb is perhaps one of the first LED lighting types to become popular, but it was also quite unsuited to the take of lighting many home and offices where lamps were a little more complex that a standard ceiling cavity fitting.

Take a look at the first image in the gallery below and you will see how traditional LEDs are designed to project light forward. They can not project much light at all behind it. This is great for some applications where you have no need to project light behind or beside the bulb, but does not suit a lot of more decorative fittings that are designed for the bulb to project light in all directions.

Have a look at through the gallery below to get a better idea of the situations where you should and shouldn't use a traditional LED bulb.

Now that we have taken a look at traditional LED bulbs, take a look back at the first image of the article. These are part of a new wave of high tech, high efficiency LED filament bulbs that behave exactly like a traditional bulb. The model pictured above is a 4W LED bulb designed to replace a traditional 40W incandescent bulb. As you can see from the picture, the design distributes light in all directions and does not have a bulky driver blocking light to the rear.

LED filament bulbs essentially allows us to reclaim lighting design for bulbs. Most lamps were built for traditional incandescent bulbs. Many of these have be retro-fitted with CFL bulbs, which didn't do anything for lighting aesthetics, and then refitted with traditional LED bulbs. Older style traditional LED bulbs turned these light fittings into spotlights with the light all pointing in one direction. Finally, we are now about to use these fitting the way they were designed, but more efficiently with beautiful, high quality lighting distributed in all directions.
